A police officer in Sussex has been dismissed without notice after making racist and offensive comments towards a female police officer. PC Dylan Cusano, who was attached to the Central South Command Unit, was found to have breached professional standards of behavior related to discreditable conduct, authority, respect and courtesy, and equality and diversity.

The incident occurred in July 2023 when PC Cusano, who was off duty at the time, called police claiming he had been assaulted in Hastings. Sussex Police officers arrived at the scene to speak with PC Cusano, but he became abusive towards them and directed a racial slur towards a female officer, specifically targeting the Traveller community. PC Cusano then left the scene.
