Top Iranian Assassin Taken Out by US Forces

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed a major breakthrough in the US military campaign against Iran. The head of the Iranian unit plotting to kill President Donald Trump has been hunted down and killed in a targeted US strike. “Iran tried to kill President Trump. And President Trump got the last laugh,” Hegseth declared at a press briefing.

Targeted Killings Part of Operation Epic Fury

Though Hegseth didn’t name the Iranian operative, he made it clear that eliminating those plotting against US officials was a key part of the mission from day one. “We’ve known for a long time that Iran intended to assassinate President Trump or other US officials,” he said. “While that wasn’t the main focus, we ensured these individuals were on the target list.”

Historic Military Gains in First Four Days

The Defence Secretary gave an upbeat update on Operation Epic Fury, now in its fourth day. One highlight: a US submarine torpedoed and sank an Iranian warship, a massive blow to Tehran’s naval power. “The results have been incredible, historic really,” said Hegseth. “Only the United States of America could lead this.”

Decisive US Victory on the Horizon

Closing the briefing, Hegseth sent a stark warning to Iran: “America is winning decisively, devastatingly, and without mercy. They are toast, and they know it.”

This dramatic confirmation that the US took out a top assassin linked to a plan against a sitting American president will fuel political debate in Washington over the scope and justification of the ongoing Iran operation. More details about the killed individual are expected as the military continues its post-strike assessment.
