A huge blaze ripped through a two-storey warehouse on Andover’s Walworth Industrial Estate, destroying a furniture and paint shop inside. Fire crews battled the inferno for hours before finally bringing it under control.
100 Firefighters Join Forces in Fiery Battle
The alarm was raised shortly after 10 a.m., with the Hampshire Integrated Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) Control Room receiving a flood of emergency calls. Around 100 firefighters from multiple counties scrambled to the scene, including teams from Dorset, Wiltshire, and Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Services.
No Injuries, But Walworth Road Still Closed
Thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the area remains a hotspot with numerous emergency vehicles still present, and Walworth Road remains shut off to traffic.
Wider Support Swarms to Tackle the Blaze
- Fire crews from Andover, Whitchurch, Winchester, Basingstoke, and Eastleigh joined the effort.
- Additional support came from St Mary’s, Brockenhurst, Bishop’s Waltham, Hartley Wintney, Sutton Scotney, Hamble, Rushmoor, Dorset, Wiltshire, and Royal Berkshire FRS teams.
- Relief crews were called in from Totton, Ringwood, Romsey, Cosham, Overton, Beaulieu, Tadley, and Yateley to rotate exhausted firefighters.
- Specialist vehicles, including water carriers, aerial ladder platforms, and environmental protection units, were deployed.
The incident remains under investigation as firefighters ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
