Product Recall Alert: Swirl Plus Mouthwash Poses Microbiological Risk

In the interest of consumer safety, the Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a product recall for Swirl Plus 500ml and 30ml Mouthwash due to identified microbiological risks. Several batches of this oral hygiene product have been found to contain a high count of aerobic mesophilic microorganisms, which could potentially pose a hazard to consumers.

The affected batches of Swirl Plus Mouthwash can be identified by the following batch numbers: 94292, 22146M, 22151M, 22317, 5111, 5115, 5116, 5117, 5118, 5122, 5123, 5124, 5125, 5126, 5152, 5153, 5154, 5154A, 5155, L5155, 5162, 5163, 5164, 5165, 5166, 5167, 5224, 5225, 5226, 5228, 5230, 5229, 23122M, 23123M, 23144M, 23145M, 23150M, 23152M, 23153M, 23154M, and 23161M. These specific products are blue mouthwash, packaged in either a 500ml or 30ml clear plastic bottle with a white lid, designed for orthodontic use.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the elevated microorganism count was linked to the presence of an unidentified pseudomonas species. This non-compliance with Regulation 1223/2009 and the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013 has necessitated immediate corrective action.

As a precautionary measure, the product has been recalled by end users. Distributors and end users known to have purchased affected batches of Swirl Plus Mouthwash have been directly informed of the recall and have been instructed to return any affected products.

Consumers who have purchased Swirl Plus 500ml and 30ml Mouthwash with batch numbers matching those listed above are strongly urged to cease using the product immediately. Instead, they should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or a replacement. The Office for Product Safety and Standards places paramount importance on consumer safety and encourages full cooperation with the recall process.

The recall serves as a proactive step to mitigate any potential risks associated with the affected mouthwash batches. The Office for Product Safety and Standards will continue to monitor and address any emerging product safety concerns to ensure the well-being of consumers.
