A West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatcher is set to turn his lifelong passion for music into reality this week with the release of his first song. Aaron Wilkes, an Emergency Medical Dispatcher at the Tollgate control room in Stafford, will debut his track Stand Together on Friday, 27th September.
Aaron, 38, has worked for the ambulance service for 18 years but has always harbored a deep love for music. His song, Stand Together, is described as a powerful and uplifting anthem about strength, unity, and fighting for a brighter future, particularly in the face of personal struggles. The song reflects a challenging year in Aaron’s life and serves as a testament to resilience.
Aaron, who wrote the song, composed the music, and played all the instruments, explained, “Music has been my passion for as long as I can remember, but it’s only recently that I’ve found the confidence to share it. The song is very personal and was originally a way for me to cope with my own mental health struggles, but as it developed, I realized it could inspire and help others too.
He believes that music’s therapeutic power can positively impact people’s mental health, saying, “Music can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, and improve mental alertness and mood. If this song can help even one person, then it has achieved its purpose.”
In a generous move, Aaron has pledged to donate 100% of any royalties earned from Stand Together to two charities close to his heart: The Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and The Ambulance Staff Charity. Simply listening to or streaming the song will contribute to his fundraising efforts.
Aaron’s debut song will be available on major music streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer from Friday, 27th September. To follow his journey and learn more, visit Aaron’s Facebook page.
