Football Coach Jailed for Sex Attack on Young Boy
A football coach who abused his position of trust to sexually assault a 13-year-old boy has been locked up. Carl Wright, 58, from Harlington, was sentenced to three and a half years behind bars at Isleworth Crown Court on Wednesday, 15 August.
Wright was also slapped with a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Disturbing Attack During Overnight Football Stay
The horrific ordeal unfolded after the boy stayed overnight at Wright’s home to watch a football match. Around 2am on Saturday 17 March, Wright entered the boy’s room and sexually assaulted him. The victim quickly got dressed and tried to escape but Wright blocked the front door.
The terrified boy begged to go home and eventually Wright drove him back. Wright tried to brush it off as a “misunderstanding” to the boy’s mother. But once the victim opened up, police were called immediately.
Swift Police Action and Guilty Plea
- Wright pleaded guilty on 18 July to sexual assault by touching a child aged 13-15 and false imprisonment.
- He was arrested the same morning as the attack and charged the next day.
- Judge sentenced him to 3 years 6 months plus lifelong orders on 15 August.
Investigator Urges Other Victims to Come Forward
“Wright’s offences are extremely serious and have deeply affected the victim and his family, who have shown remarkable bravery. We want to find out if there are any other victims,” said Det. Constable Alex Dhaliwal from the Met’s Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command.
Anyone who believes they have been a victim of Wright is urged to contact police on 101.
