Chaos on Kent’s M20 After Multi-Car Crash
The M20 coastbound in Kent is shut between junctions J4 (West Malling) and J5 (Maidstone West) following a serious multi-vehicle collision. Kent Police are leading the emergency response.
Massive Diversions in Place
Drivers are being rerouted from J4 via the ‘hollow black circle’ diversion. The alternative route takes vehicles along the A228 north to the M2 at junction 2. From there, traffic joins the M2 coastbound to junction 5.
After that, drivers must take the A249 south at Stockbury to reach the M20 again at junction 7. However, motorists aiming to rejoin the M20 at J5 should note ongoing roadworks have already closed the motorway between J6 and J7, complicating journeys.
Emergency Crews Work to Free Crash Victims
Firefighters had to cut the roofs off two cars involved in the crash, which happened around 10:50pm. One victim is believed to have suffered head injuries, while another has reported leg injuries.
