Pensioner seriously injured following collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in which a 77-year-old man was seriously injured. The incident occurred today (29/4) at about 2.40pm on Lechlade Road A417 in Faringdon, Oxfordshire. Officers received a report of a collision involving a three series BMW which had sustained substantial damage. The driver of the vehicle, a 77-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious condition. The road remains closed at this time as the investigation continues but is expected to re-open later this evening. Investigating officer Sergeant Bryan Smith, of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, said: “We are working to establish the circumstances of this collision, and I would urge anyone who witnessed it to come forward and talk to police. “We would also like to speak to anyone who has dashcam footage of the incident. “If you have any information which you think could help our investigation, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 746 29/4.”
