Mitch Gang Drug Dealers Get Heavy Jail Terms in Chester
Four members of the notorious ‘Mitch’ gang have been locked up at Chester Crown Court for a major drug conspiracy worth up to £142,000.
Class A Supply Ring Busted in Macclesfield
Jamal Conteh and Zakaira Ahmed were at the heart of the operation, using secret ‘graft’ phones to push Class A drugs across Macclesfield from July 2019 to July 2020.
Conteh kicked things off by sending drug ads to vulnerable users on 16 July 2019, establishing the supply line. In September 2019, he roped in three youths from Northamptonshire to help run the operation.
Meanwhile, Ahmed juggled managing the graft phone from Liverpool while Conteh handled street dealing.
Youths Exploited, Cars Hired to Dodge Cops
When Conteh wanted to lay low, he deputised Oluwafemi Odumuyiwa and Cheryl Hamand to handle deals. To avoid the spotlight, Odumuyiwa hired cars and chauffeured Conteh around Macclesfield and Cheshire, transporting drugs for the gang.
Hamand let the gang run their racket from her property. Police raids uncovered 91 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine, knives for protection, and over £330 cash at her place.
Massive Bust Reveals Thousands in Cash & Class A
Conteh was nabbed in a Wilmslow taxi carrying 249 wraps of heroin and crack worth £2,490. Ahmed was caught at home with £19,470 stash, a Norwegian passport, and £850 Dior trainers.
Justice Michael Leeming said: “Conteh and Ahmed worked as a team and recruited and exploited others. Their reckless crimes have wreaked havoc on society, targeting vulnerable youths to avoid detection.”
Gang Members Sentenced
- Jamal Conteh – 12 years (plus serious crime prevention order)
- Zakaira Ahmed – 7 years 6 months
- Oluwafemi Odumuyiwa – 44 months
- Cheryl Hamand – 31 months
Two others, Ammin Hassan and Edson Pereira, await sentencing next year.

Detective Constable Luke Browczuk added: “Crime doesn’t stop at borders. If you come to Macclesfield to deal drugs, we will catch you.”
Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane praised the investigation, urging residents to report any suspicious activity to Cheshire Constabulary.
