Hammer-Wielding Robber Jack Stopps Jailed for Over Three Years
Jack Stopps, 37, has been locked up for three and a half years after a terrifying hammer robbery at a Warwick store last November.
Violent Robbery Rocks Warwick Store
On the night of 10 November 2020, police were called to a Chase Meadow shop following a robbery. Stopps threatened staff with a hammer before fleeing the scene.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest
Officers tracked Stopps to Shakespeare Road, where they found him hiding cash and cigarettes in his trousers. He was arrested on the spot and kept in custody.
Stopps pleaded guilty to robbery at Warwick Crown Court back in December. Today, he was handed his prison sentence.
Investigation Ongoing, Another Man on Bail
A 25-year-old Warwick man was also arrested during the probe and remains on police bail.
Detective Constable Jag Gill from Leamington CID said: “I’d like to praise the bravery of the store staff, who faced a very frightening ordeal. Our response officers did outstanding work to quickly catch Stopps. This was a tremendous team effort to bring him to justice.”
