Fire Escape Hoods: Life-Saving Gear in Smoke Fury
Two other residents, a man and a woman, managed to escape before firefighters arrived. Fire escape hoods can shield up to 15 minutes from deadly fumes like carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide. They filter smoke but don’t supply oxygen. If needed, wearers can switch to fresh hoods for extended protection.
Rapid Response Brings Fire Under Control
The Brigade was called at 9:25am and had the blaze under control by 10:21am. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Soho and Euston stations tackled the inferno.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
