Following An Incident At Waterworld In Stoke On Trent This Afternoon, Two Patients Were Taken To Hospital And A Number Of Other People Were Assessed On The Scene.

At 1.55pm, the West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of people feeling ill at Waterworld, Festival Park, Stoke on Trent. Two ambulances, Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) paramedics, four paramedic officers, a BASICS emergency doctor, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were dispatched to the scene.
Waterworld was evacuated after a number of people inside began displaying minor symptoms such as watery eyes, a runny nose, and nausea,” a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said. The team of ambulance medics quickly triaged a total of 110 people evacuated from the building who were displaying symptoms. After being triaged, 46 of the 110 people were treated on the scene by ambulance personnel before being discharged. As a precaution, a man and a woman were transported to the hospital. A well-managed tri-service response resulted in the safe and timely evacuation of a large number of people. Fortunately, none of those involved were seriously injured.
