Mass Panic at Waterworld as Scores Fall Ill
Chaos erupted at Waterworld, Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent, when more than 100 people started feeling sick. At 1.55pm, West Midlands Ambulance Service rushed to the scene after reports of illness swept through the water park.
Ambulances, HART, Air Ambulance Rush to Waterworld
Two ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), four paramedic officers, a BASICS emergency doctor, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were deployed to handle the emergency.
Evacuation and Treatment
Waterworld was swiftly evacuated after visitors showed symptoms such as watery eyes, runny noses, and nausea. Paramedics triaged 110 people on site. Forty-six were treated and discharged immediately. Two victims—a man and a woman—were taken to hospital as a precaution.
“A well-managed tri-service response ensured the safe and timely evacuation of a large number of people,” said a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman. “Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.”
