Emergency Services Rush to Bethnal Green Over Suspected Acid Attack
Police, paramedics, and fire crews scrambled to Gosset Street in Bethnal Green, East London, on Friday, December 2nd after reports of a suspected acid attack.
Mulberry Academy Shoreditch Targeted in Incident
At around 1pm, emergency services were called to Mulberry Academy Shoreditch following claims that a corrosive substance was thrown during an altercation. Witnesses say a liquid was hurled at a person on site.
The London Fire Brigade deployed its Detection, Identification and Monitoring unit, while the London Ambulance Service’s rapid-response “Hart” team and Met Police officers also arrived at the scene.
Police Confirm No Injuries, Liquid Not Corrosive
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called shortly before 12:50pm on Friday, 02 December to Gosset Street, E2 following reports of a woman throwing liquid at people. A third party reported a liquid had been thrown at a 17-year-old girl. No injuries were reported and the girl did not require medical attention. The liquid is not believed to be a corrosive substance. Officers attended the location along with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade as a precaution. No other injuries were reported. Enquiries continue and police are conducting reassurance patrols in the area.”
Both the Met Police and London Ambulance Service have been approached for further comment as investigations continue.
