David Hockney’s Stunning Harry Styles Portrait Hits National Portrait Gallery
David Hockney, the legendary English artist, has unveiled a striking new portrait of none other than pop sensation Harry Styles. This vibrant masterpiece is set to dazzle visitors at London’s prestigious National Portrait Gallery from November 2.
Harry Styles Captured in Hockney’s Signature Style
The 86-year-old artist painted the 29-year-old “As It Was” singer in his serene Normandy studio in France. Harry is immortalised sporting a bold orange and red cardigan, a pearl necklace, and blue jeans – capturing his unmistakable style and charisma perfectly.
This portrait is just one of over 30 fresh faces featured in the exhibition “David Hockney: Drawing from Life.” Fans of art and music alike will get a rare glimpse into Hockney’s genius paired with Styles’ magnetic charm.
More Than Just Harry Styles
The exhibition also showcases intimate portraits of Hockney’s late mother Laura, famed fashion designer Celia Birtwell, former partner Gregory Evans, and vibrant locals from Normandy. The collection highlights over 160 pieces created using a variety of mediums – from pencil and watercolour to iPad art and 35mm photography.
Originally launched briefly in 2020 before pandemic lockdowns shuttered galleries, the exhibition returns in full glory after a £41.3 million, three-year refurbishment of the National Portrait Gallery.
From One Direction Star to Art Muse
Before his solo success, Harry Styles rose to fame in the boyband One Direction, which formed on The X Factor in 2010. Since then, he’s released three hit solo albums, including 2022’s Harry’s House, which topped the UK charts.
Sarah Howgate, senior curator of contemporary collections, said: “The new vibrant portraits bring fresh life to the exhibition and will captivate visitors. It’s a summer treat for anyone who loves great art.”
Art lovers and Harry Styles fans alike won’t want to miss this dazzling collision of music and fine art when the exhibition opens this November at the National Portrait Gallery.
