Five Arrested in Crackdown on Burglary Spree in Royal Wootton Bassett
Early Morning Sting Nets Burglars
Police swooped in the early hours of Thursday morning (15/12), nabbing five males suspected of a string of recent burglaries. Officers from Team 5 Royal Wootton Bassett, backed by Specialist Operations, stopped a suspicious vehicle linked to the thefts.
Tools and Stolen Goods Seized
The suspects, all from Bristol and aged 16 to 20, were caught with crowbars, bolt croppers, and other burglary tools. Police also found items believed to be stolen during a thorough search.
Multiple Charges Including Cannabis Possession
All five were arrested on suspicion of theft and carrying burglary equipment. Two—aged 16 and 20—faced additional charges for cannabis possession. They were taken to Gablecross Police Station in Swindon and released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police Warn Public as Festive Season Unfolds
“This was an excellent operation by a local policing team working with Specialist Operations to keep our roads safe,” said Sgt Ian Woodward.
