Two men have been nabbed for drink-driving in Nottinghamshire during a police crackdown on impaired drivers. The arrests came just minutes apart in different parts of the region, as officers step up their fight against road dangers this December.
Double Drink-Drive Bust in Nottinghamshire
Police first stopped a van in Rainworth at around 10.30pm on Thursday, December 8. A breath test revealed the driver was well over the limit. The 38-year-old man was arrested on the spot and remains in custody as inquiries continue.
Less than 15 minutes later, officers pulled over another suspect driving a van on Mansfield Road, Blidworth. The 36-year-old driver was also found over the drink-drive limit. He was charged and released on conditional bail. He is set to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 3 January 2023.
National Crackdown Targets Drunk and Drugged Drivers
The two arrests come amid a nationwide month of action targeting drink and drug driving. Police forces across the UK are intensifying patrols and roadside tests, aiming to stop impaired drivers and save lives.
Nottinghamshire officers are also organising roadshows to educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence. The message is clear: don’t risk your life or others’ by drinking and driving.
Police Urge Public to Report Suspected Drink-Drivers
“Anyone who drives after drinking or taking drugs puts lives at risk,” said Sergeant Jonny Groves of Nottinghamshire Police.
“We will breathalyse anyone we suspect is over the limit and take action. Our investigations continue, and we urge anyone with information to come forward.”
