A car bomb has exploded in the affluent suburb of Mezze in the Syrian capital, Damascus, causing no casualties but damaging three vehicles

This is a rare incident as Damascus has been largely spared violence in recent years. It is unknown if the explosion was meant to target a particular individual or group, and no one has claimed responsibility so far.

The area is home to several senior government and security officials, as well as offices of the United Nations and various embassies.

A similar incident occurred on February 27 when a Syrian officer was killed in a car bombing in the Damascus countryside.
