Triple Tragedy at Epsom College: Homicide Probe Underway
Police are investigating a shocking triple death at an Epsom College address from the early hours of Sunday, 5 February. Officers arrived just after 1am to find three bodies – believed to be Emma Pattison (45), her daughter Lettie (7), and husband George Pattison (39).
Firearm Found at Scene, Licensed to Husband
A licensed firearm, registered to George Pattison, was recovered from the scene. The exact causes of death await post-mortem results scheduled for later this week. Authorities are treating the case as a homicide but believe no one else was involved.
No Wider Threat but Police Boost Local Patrols
Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey called the incident “incredibly traumatic” and confirmed an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) referral has been made following recent contact with George Pattison. Officers say there is no danger to the wider community.
Inspector Jon Vale, Epsom and Ewell’s Borough Commander, reassured residents: “This incident has sent shockwaves through the community. We are confident the events were contained to one address, but you will see an increased police presence locally. If you have any concerns, please speak to an officer – we’re here to help.”
Family Privacy Urged As Investigation Continues
The family’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support. Police ask the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time. Rumours about a firing range on-site have been dismissed as inaccurate, with police confirming it is unrelated to the investigation.
“We understand the public concern and upset, and we will clarify what we can, when we can,” said DCI Edey. “We await the IOPC’s outcome before providing further details.”
