Knife Attacker Jailed for Five Years in Toothill Stabbing
Sheldon Thomas, 39, has been locked up for five years after a savage stabbing outside a flat in Toothill. The former Rosebry Street resident pleaded guilty to wounding with intent.
The sentence will run after he finishes a current three-year prison term for an earlier offence.
Brutal Attack on Oakham Close
On May 10, 2019, at around 4.20pm, Thomas launched an unprovoked attack on a man in his 40s outside a flat on Oakham Close. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest, arm, and leg.
Despite his injuries, the victim fought back. Thomas fled but was later tracked down and arrested after the victim gave a description to police.
Strong Police Message After Sentence
“We hope today’s sentencing will act as a deterrent to anyone determined to bring violence to our streets,” said Detective Sergeant Scott Anger.
“This was an unprovoked and violent attack. We are pleased that a custodial sentence has been handed down. This level of public violence will not be tolerated.”
He added: “We will always thoroughly investigate knife crimes and take robust action.”
