Man in 60s Found Dead at Teigngrace Canal – Police Seek Witnesses

Police launched an urgent search after a man in his 60s failed to return home following a night out in Newton Abbot.

Body Discovered at Stover Canal

The man was found in the water at Stover Canal near MT Tums Café, Exeter Road, Teigngrace at around 10:30am on Sunday, 10 December.

Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

Death Treated as Unexplained, Not Suspicious

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death, which is currently classed as unexplained.

Detective Sergeant Martin Key said:

At this time we are not treating the death as suspicious but as unexplained. We are working to trace the man’s movements in the hours before his death.

He appealed to the public for help:

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen him on foot in the Exeter Road area between 10:30pm and 11:45pm on Saturday 9 December. We’re also looking for any CCTV or dashcam footage.”

Police Appeal for Information

The missing man is described as white, approximately 6ft tall, with short sandy-grey hair. He was last seen wearing a navy blue Rab sweatshirt, black jogging bottoms, and grey suede trainers with turquoise laces.
