Shocking Road Rage: Elderly Woman Pushed to Ground in Finchley

A brutal road rage incident unfolded on Redbourne Avenue, near Finchley Central, on March 16, 2022. Kay Davis, 44, shoved 79-year-old Dorothy Lyndsay, causing the pensioner to fall and suffer serious injuries. The attack was caught on camera and shown in court during Davis’s trial.

Confrontation Escalates Into Violence

It all started when Ms Lyndsay, who uses a crutch, tried to reverse out of a parking space. Davis blocked her with a silver Mercedes GLC SUV. Ms Lyndsay tapped Davis’s window, asking her to wait, but Davis kept inching forward. Frustrated, Ms Lyndsay slapped the car’s bonnet. That’s when Davis stormed out, shoved the elderly woman hard, sending her crashing to the pavement and banging her head.

Callous Attack Leaves Pensioner Injured and Unconscious

Davis then grabbed her handbag and walked off, leaving Ms Lyndsay unconscious in the rain-soaked street. Shocking CCTV footage revealed the full assault. During police questioning, Davis denied any assault, claiming she was just “gesticulating” to protect her car. Despite the video evidence, she almost took the case to trial.

Victim’s Harrowing Account and Ongoing Impact

“I woke up on the ground, bleeding heavily from my face,” Ms Lyndsay said in her impact statement. “Members of the public covered me with their coats to shield me.”

She suffered cuts to her eyelid and lip, bruised brain, and a £7,000 damaged dental bridge. Ms Lyndsay still endures knee pain and awaits further X-ray results. Ambulance crews took 40 minutes to arrive while she lay in a puddle on the gutter.

Prosecutor Jonathan Mole noted Ms Lyndsay’s hazy memory, as she briefly lost consciousness during the brutal encounter.

Davis was fined £1,000 in compensation. The dangerous driving charge against her was dropped.
