Emergency services rushed to Balham train station this afternoon in response to a distressing incident involving a person under a train. London Ambulance Service personnel were deployed to the scene promptly after receiving reports of the incident at 1:13 pm.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service confirmed the response, stating: “We were called today at 1:13 pm to Balham train station after reports of a person under a train. We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a response car, members of our hazardous area response team, and an incident response officer.
In addition to ground units, London’s air ambulance was also dispatched to the scene. Medical personnel provided immediate treatment to the individual involved before transferring them to a London major trauma center for further care.
The presence of emergency services, including London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police, was conspicuous at the south London station. Witnesses reported that passengers were instructed to evacuate the station premises.
