A 48-year-old man has been slapped with serious charges over the rape of a 13-year-old girl in Southampton, police revealed today (December 31).
Horrific Attack in Southampton’s St Mary’s
The shocking assault happened overnight between December 26 and 27 at a property in Southampton’s St Mary’s area. The victim reportedly met the suspect on the evening of the attack.
Damian Andre Martin, from Millbrook Road West, now faces a slew of charges including:
- Rape
- Sexual assault
- Two counts of assault by penetration
- Assault by beating
- Taking a child to keep her from a person having lawful control
Martin is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today.
Another Man Arrested But Released on Bail
Police have also arrested a 50-year-old Southampton man on suspicion of rape linked to the case. He has since been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.
The young victim is now being supported by specialist officers as the investigation moves forward.
