Five men charged after brutal attack on teenage boy on Tallaght bus
A teenage boy was savagely beaten with metal bars on a bus in Tallaght, Dublin. Five men have been charged in connection with the shocking attack on February 29, 2024, at the car park of The Square Shopping Centre.
Violent Bus Attack Caught on CCTV
The horrifying incident happened around 9:30pm as the bus was leaving the car park. CCTV footage shown in Tallaght District Court captured two of the accused boarding the bus and heading to the top deck. There, they allegedly launched a savage assault on the 15-year-old, relentlessly striking him with metal bars.
Another man is said to have stayed outside the bus during the attack. Judge Patricia McNamara described the footage as showing the boy being beaten “relentlessly,”/em adding, “It’s very fortunate that the young man was able to stand after the beating.”

The men face charges under the Public Order Act for violent disorder, accused of using or threatening unlawful violence in a way that would cause fear for safety.
Judge Rules Case Too Severe for District Court
After reviewing the distressing footage, Judge McNamara ruled the severity of the attack meant the case could not be dealt with in District Court. She granted prosecutors 12 weeks to prepare the Book of Evidence and remanded the accused on bail until June 19.
Investigation Hits Snags as Victim Declines Contact
Investigating Garda Sarah Cullinan told the court that despite repeated efforts, the victim has refused to engage with authorities. This means there is no medical report on his injuries available to the Gardaí.
