British Transport Police have launched a manhunt after a woman was sexually assaulted on a busy train during rush hour.
The incident took place on a service travelling between Leeds and Huddersfield shortly after 7pm on Tuesday, 15 April 2025. The attack occurred while the carriage was crowded with commuters.
Today, police released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the investigation, urging members of the public to help identify him.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:
“Do you recognise this man? Officers investigating a sexual assault on board a train between Leeds and Huddersfield have today released this image in connection.
They added: “Shortly after 7pm on Tuesday 15 April, a man sexually assaulted a woman on the service. Officers believe the man in the image may have information which could help with their investigation.
Anyone who recognises the man is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 25 of 16 April.
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
Police are continuing to investigate and have appealed to anyone who was travelling on the service at the time and may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
