A North Yorkshire farmer has issued a public appeal after a lamb was allegedly taken from his property near Kex Gill, close to the A59, on the afternoon of Monday, 13 May.
In a now-viral post shared by Rob Hayton, a silver vehicle was photographed near a field where a lamb was reportedly removed. The farmer claims the ewe, the lamb’s mother, has been desperately searching for her missing baby ever since.
“No matter how well you think you can look after it, you can’t do as well as she can,” wrote Mr Hayton, adding the lamb in question is a Swaledale, a breed typically kept for breeding and not slaughter.
He also said the vehicle’s registration number has been recorded, and offered a peaceful resolution:
“If it’s returned, no further action will be taken against you.”
Mr Hayton urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, particularly those who may have seen anything on the A59 near the white building by Kex Gill shortly before 5:00pm on May 13.
