Police Launch Man Hunt After 6-Year-Old Boy Snatched in Redhill, Surrey

Surrey Police are on high alert following a chilling report that a 6 or 7-year-old boy was snatched in broad daylight in Redhill. The child was reportedly taken into a suspicious black Volkswagen Transporter van at around 4.43pm today (Thursday, August 25), leaving his bike behind.

Van Description Sparks Urgent Appeal

The vehicle in question is a black, heavily modified VW Transporter with an ’02’ registration plate. Key details to look out for include:

  • Three BBS alloy wheels – notably, the front nearside alloy is missing
  • No rear windows and no signwriting
  • Chrome side steps and a sliding side door

Neighbours report the van speeding off from Redstone Hill shortly after the boy was taken.

The Missing Child & His Abandoned Bike

The missing boy is described as:

  • White, around 4ft tall, approximately 6 or 7 years old
  • Wearing a red t-shirt and navy blue jeans

His small mountain bike was left at the scene. It’s a Frantic Giant make with a silver frame featuring black and yellow details.

Police Work Round the Clock

Superintendent Bex Smith said:

“This is an incident we are taking extremely seriously. We urge anyone with information about the child, the van, or the circumstances to come forward immediately.”

She added:

“If you were near Redhill train station around the time of the incident, please check if you saw anything suspicious. We are exploring all possibilities, including whether the child and the van’s occupant might know each other.”

The National Police Air Service is also aiding in the search as officers maintain a strong presence in Redhill.
