Man Trapped in Mud Near Port Solent Rescued

Firefighters from Cosham and Fareham, plus the Water Rescue Support Unit, rushed to a dramatic incident near Port Solent just after 10.20pm on Friday. The emergency call came as a man got stuck in mud at Paulsgrove Lake, Southampton Road, close to the luxury marina and housing estate.

Rescue crews worked quickly. The man was hauled to safety and transferred by lifeboat to shore. South Central Ambulance Service took over his care immediately.

Second Incident: Despondent Male Spotted in Portchester Waters

Just as emergency teams caught their breath, they were re-deployed to a second crisis. Reports came in of a despondent man spotted in the water near Portchester.

Portsmouth teams joined forces with Hampshire Constabulary to rescue him. Thankfully, he was recovered safely from the water with no reported injuries.

UK Coastguard Role and Police-Led Operation

A UK Coastguard spokesperson confirmed this was a police-led operation. The Police requested Coastguard resources, sparking the mobilisation of Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Lifeboats along with a Coastguard Rescue Team.

“The Police have asked us to provide resources. We mobilised the Gosport and Fareham lifeboats and a Coastguard Rescue Team,” the spokesperson said, refusing to divulge further details.

Emergency Services’ Swift Action Saves Lives

The dual incidents highlight the speedy and professional response by firefighters, ambulance teams, police, and the Coastguard. Both men were rescued without major harm, thanks to the coordinated effort across several emergency units.
