Travellers Evicted Just in Time for Victorious Festival in Southsea

Travellers who set up camp at the Canoe Lakes in Southsea have been ordered to pack up and leave – just before the Victorious Festival kicked off.

Free Festival Access Plan Foiled

Looks like their hopes of scoring a free VIP ticket to the Victorious Festival were dashed by Hampshire Constabulary and portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth City Council. On Thursday morning (August 16), authorities slapped a Section 61 notice on the caravan groups demanding they clear off.

Authorities Take Swift Action

The travellers rolled in on Tuesday and Wednesday, prompting close watch from locals and police alike. One resident revealed: “Police visited overnight and promised to return this morning with council officers.”

Portsmouth City Council confirmed: “Police have served a Section 61 notice on a number of caravans parked near the Canoe Lakes and surrounding areas today. Council officers are working closely with police.”
