Essex Man Jailed for Running Fake Pet Charity Scam
A 26-year-old from Crays Hills, Essex, has been locked up for five years and banned for life from owning any animals. Oaveed Rahman ran a bogus animal charity, tricking pet owners into handing over their dogs and charging them for fake rehoming and rehab services that never happened.
Shocking Cruelty: 22 Animals Found Living in Filthy Conditions
Rahman admitted 11 counts of fraud and one count of causing unnecessary suffering. The cruelty charge involved 21 dogs and a cat kept in appalling, inhumane conditions at his home—exposing the true horror behind his scam.
Banned XL Bully Dog Found on Premises
In a further blow, Rahman pleaded guilty to possessing a banned XL Bully dog, highlighting his reckless disregard for animal welfare laws and safety.
Police Uncover Full Extent of the Scam
The investigation, led by Essex Police and partner agencies, exposed Rahman’s vile operation in full.
“He deceived people into thinking they were helping animals, but instead caused misery to dozens of pets,” said an Essex Police spokesperson.
