A tense afternoon in Rochdale’s Belfield area turned grim when a 19-year-old man was shot and suffered suspected life-changing injuries to his leg. Greater Manchester Police were called to Beswick Royds Street at 3:20pm and swiftly dispatched emergency crews, including an air ambulance.

Police Probe Shooting, No Arrests Yet

Despite rapid police response and a heavy armed presence in the area, no arrests have been made so far.

“This incident will undoubtedly cause concern for the local community,” said Superintendent Lucy Smallwood.

“We are working quickly to uncover the full circumstances. It appears to have been a targeted attack, and there’s no wider threat to the public. Our officers remain visible in the community to reassure residents.”

Scene Left Chaotic – Car Debris and Burning Vehicle Under Investigation

Photos from the area show car debris scattered on the streets with a damaged black car within the police cordon. Additionally, a white 4×4 was seen burning near Watergrove Reservoir, three miles from the shooting scene. Police confirm the burning vehicle is linked to their ongoing investigation.
