Shock waves ripple through UK politics as former Conservative MP Crispin Blunt faces serious drug charges, prosecutors confirmed on Wednesday.
Four Drug Offences Laid Against Former MP
Crispin Blunt, 65, served as a Conservative MP for over 25 years before stepping down at the July 2024 election. Now, he’s been slapped with four drug-related counts.
- One count of possessing a Class A controlled drug
- Three counts of possessing Class B drugs
Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Crown Prosecution Service’s Special Crime Division, announced the charges.
Police Probe Sparks Charges
The legal action follows a police visit to Blunt’s home in October 2023, originally linked to an unrelated investigation.
Blunt is scheduled to appear in court on March 25 to face the allegations.
