Drug Haul Hidden in Dog Food Bags Cracks Down Crime Ring

John Neilson, 44, was arrested during a joint operation by the National Crime Agency and Police Scotland at a Bathgate vehicle repair yard on June 22, 2020. The raid was part of a proactive probe into illegal drug supply.

£875,000 Worth of Cocaine Stashed in Van

Police found 15 kilo blocks of cocaine hidden inside bags of dried dog food in the van Neilson was driving. The drugs came from a supplier in England. Forensic tests revealed the cocaine was 65% pure, meaning once cut, the haul could fetch a staggering £875,000 on the streets.

Further Searches Yield No More Drugs

A search of Neilson’s home uncovered more opened bags of the same dog food, but no additional drugs were found. Officers continue targeting organised crime groups involved in drug trafficking to keep communities safe.

“Working alongside our law enforcement partners, we are determined to disrupt the organised groups involved in drug supply and protect the public,” police said.
