A deadly blaze tore through a home in Croydon overnight, leaving two men dead and another seriously ill.
Firefighters Battle Intense Flames
At 1:30am on 23rd February 2026, six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to Duppas Hill Terrace. The fire engulfed the ground and first floors of a two-storey house, sparking a fierce battle to bring it under control.
The blaze was finally contained by 2:47am after crews from Croydon, Wallington, Woodside, and nearby stations fought the flames.
Tragic Loss of Two Lives
Tragically, one man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. A third man escaped before crews arrived but was rushed to hospital with smoke inhalation.
Investigation Underway
The London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police are probing the cause of the fire. No further details have been released yet.
