Officers were called to a store in Nottingham’s Angel Row after reports of
a disturbance.
Cops arrived at the scene around 7.45 p.m. on Thursday (2 February) and
discovered staff at the shop holding a suspect.
A security guard then handed over a knife allegedly seized from the suspect
during a search inside the store.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having an offensive weapon
in a public place.
He is still in police custody.
“There is never an excuse for anyone to carry a knife in a public place –
for the simple reason that doing so is incredibly dangerous,” said
Inspector Sharon Powar of Nottinghamshire Police.
“Aside from obviously putting others in danger, carrying a knife puts that
person at greater risk of harm as well.
We take all reports of knife crime extremely seriously and will continue
to act quickly to resolve any incidents involving knives in a safe manner.
