Nottingham Man Arrested After Knife Found in Angel Row Store

Police swooped on a Nottingham shop after a reported disturbance on Thursday night. Officers arrived at Angel Row around 7.45 p.m. to find staff holding a suspect.

A security guard handed over a knife allegedly found on the 18-year-old man during a search inside the store. The youth was promptly arrested on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon in public.

Knives in Public: Police Warn of Dangers

Inspector Sharon Powar from Nottinghamshire Police slammed the weapon possession. “There is never an excuse for anyone to carry a knife in a public place – it’s incredibly dangerous,” she said.

“Not only does it put others at risk, but it also endangers the carrier. We take all knife-related reports seriously and act swiftly to resolve them safely.”

Call for Witnesses

The suspect remains in custody. Police urge anyone with information to call 101, quoting incident number 740 of 2 February 2023, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
