Two men were snapped up by cops after a drone was spotted buzzing over HMP Long Lartin, one of the UK’s toughest prisons, just before 11.30pm on Monday, April 14. Authorities rushed to the scene when the unmanned aerial device was seen circling the high-security jail’s restricted airspace near Evesham.

Quick-Thinking Cops Nab Suspects and Seize Drugs

Officers quickly intercepted a suspect vehicle around midnight. A drone was found stashed in the back seat. A search of the car uncovered a stash of suspected class A drugs and prescription pills, thought to be destined for smuggling into the prison.

Both men were detained on suspicion of conveying prohibited items into prison and involvement in supplying class A drugs. They remain in custody as a full investigation rolls on.

West Mercia Police Speak Out

“We were alerted to a drone circling the airspace over the prison shortly before 11.30pm. Officers swiftly responded and stopped a suspect vehicle just before midnight. A drone was recovered from the car, and the occupants were arrested. Suspected class A drugs and prescription medication were discovered during a further search,” said a West Mercia Police spokesperson.
