A former insurance bigwig tragically lost his life after his Aston Martin careered off the road and smashed into a tree in West Yorkshire.
Ex-Aviva Boss Killed in Horrific Aston Martin Crash
David Barral, 63, a dad of three and ex-CEO at Aviva, was behind the wheel of his grey Aston Martin DBX SUV on the A58 between Bardsey and Collingham on Tuesday when his car suddenly left the road and slammed into a tree.
Emergency crews fought desperately to save him, but Mr Barral was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family Heartbroken: ‘Absolutely Devastated’
“Rest in peace David. We will all miss you so, so much and you will always fill our hearts. We love you.”
His loved ones paid a poignant tribute, calling him “the most wonderful man” and saying they are “absolutely devastated” by their loss.
Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
West Yorkshire Police are urgently investigating the crash. Officers want anyone who saw the incident or spotted any suspicious driving beforehand to come forward.
A spokesperson for the Major Collision Enquiry Team said: “We’re appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the car’s movements leading up to it to please contact us.”

From Scotland to Yorkshire: Remembering David Barral
Born in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Mr Barral enjoyed a stellar career in insurance. He held senior posts at Aviva from 1999 to 2015, later worked as a claims negotiator at Guardian Royal Exchange, and ran Andrew Yule Insurance for three years.
He lived in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with his wife and three children.
