Fire Crews Called to Sevenoaks Leisure Centre following fire in the roof

The Sevenoaks Leisure Centre in Buckhurst Lane in Sevenoaks was evacuated due to a fire in the roof. Firefighters are dealing with the fire in the roof of a building used as a swimming centre Four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform are in attendance. Officer from Kent Police is also in attendance. The building has evacuated and a welfare area has been set up nearby for those affected. There are no reported casualties. Firefighting is ongoing. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Update – 2pm Firefighters brought the fire under control by 1pm, containing the blaze to the plant room of the premises used as a swimming pool. Firefighters tackled to blaze using hose reel jets, water from a hydrant and dry powder extinguishers. Crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the first floor. Kent Police assisted at the scene, helping people that were evacuated from the building to a safe area. Everyone was accounted for and there were no casualties. The incident has now been scaled down and two fire engines remain on the scene while crews damp down remaining hotspots. UK Power is also in attendance. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
