Blaze at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre Forces Evacuation

A fire broke out in the roof of Sevenoaks Leisure Centre on Buckhurst Lane, triggering a full evacuation. Firefighters rushed to the scene with four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to tackle the flames.

Swift Response from Fire and Police

Kent Police officers coordinated the evacuation and set up a welfare area nearby for those affected. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Fire crews battled the blaze using hose reel jets, water hydrants, and dry powder extinguishers. They also deployed a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the first floor.

Fire Brought Under Control

By 1pm, firefighters had contained the fire to the plant room of the swimming pool building. The incident has since been scaled down, with two fire engines remaining to damp down hotspots. UK Power is also at the scene assisting with the recovery.

Cause of Fire Still Unknown

The cause of the roof fire remains under investigation. Firefighters and police continue to monitor the site to ensure the safety of the community.
