A smash involving two lorries on the M25 near the Dartford Tunnel has caused chaos, with one truck partially flipping onto its side and leaning against another. The crash severely damaged both vehicles and sparked snarling traffic jams that have trapped drivers for over an hour.
Two Lorries Crash, One Truck Partly Flips
The incident happened this afternoon on the anti-clockwise side of the M25 at junction 30. National Highways confirmed a collision between two heavy goods vehicles left one lorry slumped against the other, blocking the hard shoulder and inside lane.
“Two lanes (of three) are closed due to a collision involving two lorries,” the agency said. “Heavy damage and full recovery needed.”
Massive Delays Stretch Back to Junction 2
Only one lane remains open, causing severe congestion extending all the way back to junction 2. Drivers have been warned to brace for delays lasting more than an hour, especially during rush hour.
National Highways advised commuters to expect lengthy hold-ups through Kent via the Dartford Tunnel. The agency stressed the recovery operation will take time.
Another M25 Crash Adds to Commuter Nightmare
Earlier today, the Surrey stretch of the M25 also ground to a halt after a separate crash between Junction 6 (Godstone) and Junction 5 (Sevenoaks). Two lanes and a slip road were shut after that collision, adding to the day’s motorway misery.
Motorists are being urged to plan and allow extra travel time as emergency services clear the wreckage.
