Police Investigate Stolen Car Crash on Canvey Island, Appeal for Information

Essex Police are investigating a single-vehicle collision in Somnes Avenue, Canvey Island, after a stolen car was found badly damaged following a crash into a lamppost.

The incident was reported shortly after 5 a.m. on Sunday, 5 January 2025. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the vehicle severely damaged but found no occupants inside.

Investigation Underway

Police have since determined that the vehicle was stolen from an address on Canvey Island, and they are now following several targeted lines of enquiry to identify those involved.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said:
“We are working to establish who was in the vehicle at the time of the collision. We urge anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.”

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the collision, witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact them.
