Man on the Run: Police Identify Suspect
Police are urgently searching for 26-year-old Kadian Nelson, wanted in connection with an alleged rape in Merton. Nelson is believed to live in Mitcham and officers are urging him to hand himself in immediately.
Senior Officer Issues Direct Appeal
Det Supt Owain Richards said, “Police launched intensive enquiries after an allegation of rape was reported just after 7am on Tuesday, 3 November, near North Place. A teenage girl is currently receiving support from specialist officers.”
He added, “I am appealing directly to Kadian to attend his nearest police station now or call us to confirm his whereabouts. This is crucial for his safety and that of the public.”
Community Tensions Rising – Police Warn Against Vigilantism
Det Supt Richards warned locals amid high emotions, “We are aware of videos and images spreading on social media and groups gathering at addresses involved. I urge people to go home. Don’t take the law into your own hands – you risk arrest.”
He stressed the importance of letting police do their job. “Interfering with the investigation could harm future legal proceedings.”
Extra Police Powers in Place
A Section 60 Order covering Merton and Wandsworth boroughs grants police extra stop-and-search powers amid fears of serious violence. Authorities continue probing the case and urge anyone with information to come forward.
