US Unveils Stealth Bomber to Outgun Russia and China
The US has rolled out its next-generation stealth bomber, the B-21 Raider, in a glitzy ceremony at Northrop Grumman’s California factory on Friday. Top US officials attended the event, signalling a major boost to American air power.
Big Bucks, Bigger Plans
The US Air Force plans to snap up at least 100 B-21s, each carrying a hefty $700 million price tag, according to a Northrop Grumman spokesperson. This marks the first new strategic bomber in over 30 years, promising to outclass every existing rival.
Bombers Amid Rising Tensions
The unveiling comes as tensions soar between the US and China, especially over the Ukraine conflict and Taiwan’s future. Just recently, Russian and Chinese strategic bombers conducted a joint eight-hour patrol over the western Pacific, showcasing their growing military partnership.
China’s Defence Ministry dismissed the patrol as “routine,” but Moscow and Beijing are clearly upping their game. Both are working on stealth bombers to rival the B-21—the Chinese Xian H-20 and Russia’s nuclear-capable Tupolev PAK DA.
High-Tech and Ready for Anything
The B-21 Raider comes with cutting-edge technology, including the option to fly without a pilot. However, the US Air Force said there is “no decision to fly without a crew” for now.
“The B-21 Raider is the first strategic bomber in more than three decades,” Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said. “No other long-range bomber can match its efficiency.”
With the B-21 set to dominate the skies, America looks ready to maintain its edge in the high-stakes game of global military power.
