In a development earlier today, Met counter-terrorism detectives apprehended a 19-year-old woman from central London on suspicion of a terrorism offence. The arrest occurred at approximately 07:30 GMT on Wednesday, 31 January.
The young woman stands accused of inviting support for a proscribed organisation, a violation of Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000. The proscribed organisation in question is Hamas. The alleged offence is linked to a pro-Palestine protest held in Camden on 19 October.
Currently in custody at a central London police station, the 19-year-old’s arrest is part of the ongoing efforts by Met officers to address potential threats and uphold public safety.
As part of the investigation, authorities have executed a search of an address in central London, seeking further evidence related to the case.
