Armed Robber Danny Lee Slapped with Extra Jail Time for Drug Driving
Danny Lee, 43, infamous for a gun robbery at an Eltham newsagent last year, has been hit with a fresh prison sentence for drug driving. This stacks onto his growing list of convictions.
Shocking Armed Robbery Caught on CCTV
On December 10, Lee stormed a newsagents on Shawbrooke Road, waving a gun and demanding cash from the frightened lone worker. CCTV footage showed him pointing the firearm at the victim’s head and bashing him with the butt of the gun, leaving minor injuries.
Lee then grabbed phones and cash before making a getaway on a bicycle. For this terrifying crime, a Woolwich Crown Court judge sentenced him to six years and four months behind bars on April 19.
Drug Driving Spree Leads to More Jail
But Lee’s trouble didn’t stop there. On November 12, he was caught speeding in a Subaru Levorg on Woolacombe Road, Kidbrooke. He ignored police orders to stop, only to fail tests that showed he was driving under the influence of drugs.
Appearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on May 10, Lee pleaded guilty to:
- Driving while disqualified
- Driving without due care and attention
- Failing to stop for police
- Driving whilst unfit through drugs
He was hit with an additional driving ban of three years and 11 months, plus nine more weeks behind bars.
Judge Sends Strong Message
The judge made clear that Lee’s reckless behaviour on the road would not be tolerated. With fresh convictions piling up, Lee’s time behind bars keeps growing, ensuring justice for his victims and the local community.
