Dover’s Connaught Park Tennis Courts Reopen After £57,800 Makeover
Tennis fans in Dover can hit the courts again! Dover District Council (DDC) and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) have officially reopened the refurbished tennis courts at Connaught Park on Saturday, 19 April.
Top-Notch Upgrades to Boost Local Tennis
Two courts at the popular Connaught Park now sport a full makeover thanks to a £57,800 investment from the UK Government and the LTA Tennis Foundation. The upgrade includes brand-new surfaces, fresh nets, stronger fencing, and permanent court markings — bringing the facilities up to modern, professional standards.
- New access-controlled gate
- Online booking system to cut wait times
- Reliable maintenance and smooth reservations
Community Tennis Set for a Big Boost
“We are very pleased to see this exciting renovation complete, and to welcome this new investment in tennis facilities in Dover. The refurbishment will offer local residents of all ages a great chance to enjoy tennis in a beautiful park setting and improve their health while having fun,” said David Parish, Head of Property Assets at DDC.
The courts will be managed by the Deal and Dover Park Tennis Community Interest Company (CIC), formerly the Marke Wood Tennis Hub. The CIC will join forces with the LTA to roll out free weekly park sessions starting this July — catering to all ages and skill levels, with equipment provided.
Year-Round Play and Easy Booking
Scott Lloyd, Chief Executive of LTA, added:
“We are delighted to have worked with Dover District Council to improve their park tennis facilities and provide more opportunities for anyone to pick up a racket and get active. This investment means courts will be available for years to come.”
Regular players can snap up an annual season ticket for just £40, covering a family of four and granting access to both Connaught Park and Marke Wood tennis courts for flexible play all year long.
