An eight-year-old boy has tragically died after suffering serious head and facial injuries in a firearm incident at a farm in Warcop, Cumbria.
Emergency Services Rush to Distressing Scene
The shocking incident unfolded on 28 September around 2:50 pm. Emergency services, including North West Ambulance Service and police, scrambled to the property following reports of a child seriously injured by a firearm.
The boy was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly passed away overnight despite doctors’ best efforts. Police secured the firearm at the scene.
Man Arrested Amid Ongoing Murder Investigation
A man in his 60s was arrested at the farm, initially on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains in police custody and has since been re-arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
Police have not released any details about the relationship between the suspect and the boy as investigations continue.
