Elderly Woman Dies After Zebra Crossing Collision in Wood Green

Police are appealing for witnesses, information and any road users with video footage following a fatal collision in Wood Green

A man and a woman, both aged in their 80s, were involved in a collision with a car as they attempted to cross the road at a zebra crossing.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment. The man was discharged following treatment but sadly the woman died as a result of her injuries on 11 November 2023.

She has been named as 83-year-old Grigoria Yiannoullou from the Wood Green area.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Collens, from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This incident happened on a zebra crossing on Bury Road, close to the junction of Lymington Avenue in Wood Green. If you were in the area and witnessed the incident, or if you were a driver who may have captured events on dashcam footage, then please get in contact if you have yet to do so.”

The collision happened on Tuesday, 7 November 2023 at around 11:15am on Bury Road, N22.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has subsequently been interviewed under caution as part of this investigation – she has not been arrested.
